Buriti Oil – properties, effects and a review of the best oils
Oil extracted from the Moriche palm tree has interesting care properties but bad reputation behind it. It is considered to be an unhealthy substance. Is it worth looking for it in cosmetics? What can replace it? The answer can be found below.
There are at least a dozen various palm species. One of them is the Moriche palm, from which Buriti oil is extruded. It is worth knowing at least the general outline of the properties of the Moriche palm oil and how it is used without going into details related to the specific species of this plant.
Buriti Oil – characteristics
There is no way not to recognise it. Only the oil from Moriche palm, regardless of its type, is so intensely orange (sometimes even red) and so dense. It is one of the plant butter used in cosmetics. Because of its consistency, it works well as a base for creams. Buriti oil is obtained by pressing the pulp or seeds of Moriche palm trees and it becomes liquid only after heating it up.
What are its properties?
When describing the oil from the Moriche palm tree, it is impossible not to mention its properties, which are owed to essential fatty acids (including saturated, omega-9, omega-6), vitamins A, C, E and other antioxidants. It provides deep hydration, soothes irritations, eliminates premature signs of ageing, and provides protection against harmful sun radiation. Buriti oil also contains a lot of beta-carotene, which provides the skin with a beautiful and healthy tan.
How does the Buriti oil affect my hair? First of all, it provides it with proper hydration and regulates the work of the sebaceous glands in the scalp. Thanks to this, the hair is well hydrated along its entire length but no longer oily at the base. This is definitely the problem for most women who have dry and split ends but suffer from scalp oiliness. The oil also provides protection to the hair.
Buriti oil among other natural oils
Although Buriti oil has very interesting properties, it can be successfully replaced with lighter and better absorbed (by the hair) types of oils. There are many that have comparable or even better properties and are much lighter for hair. Some even contain extra valuable nutrients.
If you are looking for a good hair care product, consider those that contain as many natural oils as possible. However, those do not always have to be cosmetics with Buriti oil content, because the strength lies in the quality and appropriate choice of oils, not their kind.
